FIP Interviews Vice-Dean Claude Mailhot from the University of Montreal

During the Conference of Deans from Pharmacy Schools/Faculties in French speaking countries (CIDPHARMEF), FIP had the chance to speak with Claude Mailhot, Vice-Dean International Relations from the University of Montreal, Canada.

After undertaken her PharmD in Salt Lake City, Mailhot has been working at the University of Montreal to reform the pharmacy studies. The need for more clinically oriented pharmacists by stakeholders resulted in offering a PharmD at the University of Montreal. Initially the Ministry of Health was not supportive of the change in degree, but after discussions and reflection they did support the reform.

Thanks to the effort of Mailhot and her colleagues, the first students of the 1st entry-level PharmD programme in Canada will graduate in June 2011.
